Mumming’s the Word: Reflecting on the Winter Holiday Season
This service will start with an impromptu folk performance: a century-old mummer’s play from Northern Ireland. After learning the original context for this play and related customs in the Americas, congregants will be invited to reflect on the their own winter holiday practices, considering how their observances are marked by tradition and change, as well as exuberance and introspection.

Religious Narrative and Search for Meaning

This service examines the impact of traditional and ancient stories and myths on our culture, shaping aspects like our language and the values we embrace. We'll explore how the viewpoints of past civilizations continue to shape society’s focus and direction, influencing who we recognize, listen to, and remember. Together, we can explore new ideas from contemporary science and philosophy that are inspiring the development of fresh myths and legends for future generations.
