Laura Zhang Choi of Warren County, who advocates on behalf of the LBGTQ+ community and is working for the inclusion and representation of people of all ages across the county and beyond. Choi joined the Greenwich Township School District school board and shares her passion for educational equity. She explains how important it is that students see a teacher that looks like them and hear stories that are not generally reflected in their textbooks or in their curriculum. She notes that New Jersey is only the second state to mandate an Asian American history curriculum. She was a strong advocate for its inclusion in her district and fights for LBGTQ+ rights in any way she can. | Dr. Karen Gaffney is Professor of English at Raritan Valley Community College in New Jersey, where she teaches Race in American Literature and Popular Culture.
